ROYSTON & DISTRICT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
In January 2006, following a successful breakfast meeting, a new constitution for the Chamber of Commerce was approved and a new Committee appointed.
 
Stephen John Larcombe, Solicitor, and David Smyth, Chartered Accountant, were appointed Chairman and Honorary Treasurer respectively. Mike Gowen of Stationery Cupboard, Andy Webb of Barclays Bank, Councillor Doug Drake of The Toy Shop, Christine Brown of Marie Curie Cancer Care and John Balodis of Wooden House Design & Media were also appointed to the Committee.
 
WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF THE NEW CHAMBER OF COMMERCE?
The new Committee feels that the Chamber should be inclusive of all sectors of the business, including manufacturing, light industrial, hi-tech and retail.
The Committee intends to lobby for the interests of all businesses and to network with other Chambers, Agencies and Local Authorities.
The Chamber intends to communicate business and legal issues to its members.
The Committee intends that the Chamber should be instrumental in promoting a local enterprise culture.
Fundamentally, the Committee believes that the Chamber should support initiatives, which encourage the vitality and viability of the Town Centre.
 
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Subscriptions for the current financial year will be pro rata until April 2010. From the 1st April 2010 it will be £40 per annum for businesses employing less than 10 persons, and £80 for businesses employing more than 10 persons. The fee is reduced for direct debit payments.
