The Beach
With 8km’s of golden, sandy beach, Pescara is the ideal resort to sunbathe. The warm adriatic is just the place to cool off before you go for that slice of pizza and chilled glass of locally produced white wine in of the many bars or restaurants along the promenade. Maybe even an enticing Italian ice-cream. The gently shelving beach makes it ideal for children to play along the shoreline too. As this is very much an Italian holiday resort, you will find the beach quite quiet during the week.

Skiing
Surprisingly, Abruzzo is rich with a diverse range of ski resorts with pistes that are ideal for the expert and beginner alike. Ski hire is plentiful for those not wanting to drag their own with them. All ski resorts have button tows, chair lifts, with Gran Sasso having its own cable car. Many resorts have additional facilities such as half-pipes, night skiing, snowtubing and bordercross. In addition, ski passes are so cheap, making this a very affordable ski holiday.

Places of interest
For those wanting a more cultural holiday, Abruzzo is ideally situated. With motorway access to Rome and Naples. Italy’s rich, cultural history is not far away. For those not wanting to travel so far, Abruzzo is steeped in it’s own history. Having its own dialect and food, with each hilltop village having its own character. Visit Sulmona, the town where confetti originated and gaze on some fantastic designs using only sugared almonds. If frescos are your thing, then a visit to the church of Santa Maria in Piano, in Loreto Aprutino as this will not disappoint. Take a day out to L’Aquila and you will discover the castle built in 1530 with a national museum of Abruzzo inside. A little known fact that the picturesque hill village of Castelli is Italy’s ceramic capital with its own museum housed in a former monastery. There is an incredible variety of attractions and cultural treasures throughout the region.
